I usually listen to 102.7 WEQX, which is a lot of alternative rock and mellow rock. I think they operate out of Vermont, but they also have a tower in Albany, NY too I believe.
I also listen to 104.9 the Edge WQBK (Renssalear, NY) which plays hard and alternative rock, and have some metal hours.
[W]PYX 106.5 (Albany, I think) which plays oldies and classics.
Occasionally 95.5 WXQR which plays classical music.
And 103.1 WHRL which plays alternative rock.
And very occasionally I'll tune into WRPI 91.5, which operates out of RPI college in Troy, NY. They play a lot of unique things.
But on long car trips, or days that I don't want to deal with commercials, I'll just hook up my MP3 player.
Streaming over the 'net takes the sting outta being so far from New Orleans. Somewhat.
They don't just play jazz, there's a bit of everything..much like the city herself.
I have a few that I listen to online when I'm at work:
97.1 WQHT (hip hop) - This one is located in NYC, and is world renowned for being the top hip hop station in the world. For you hip hop fans on this forum this station is infamously known as "HOT 97".
100.3 WHTZ (POP/Top 40) This one is also located in NYC
Power 106 (hip/hop) This one plays mostly west coast hip hop.
95.7 The Ride near Charlotte, NC. They are one of the few independent stations around here and play classic rock. Not just the stuff you have heard a thousand times either. Really deep cuts all day long.
