When Art Bell left the show I remember that he had a few special cd’s with the “best of coast to coast” on them for replay. I think there were a total of five cds. He’s website was taken down and all of the archived shows were lost and gone forever. If you’re looking for his old shows, try searching for Art Bell cds ~ someone out there might have them and be willing to sell em on ebay?

Here's at least a little bit of Art Bell and it's some of his best. Almost 8 hours of the Mel's Hole shows. Download the mp3's. Enjoy!

The thing about a mystro like Art is that he makes it look easy.
The thing is that so many of the guests are on there to promote their book or something, as though it is a large infomercial just for them.
Art was not beyond calling a guest's 'bs' when necessary and even if Art had a dull or stupid guest Art would manage to make the segment interesting.
Noory does not have enough internal resources (read: smarts) to do that.
Ian is a pretty clever guy. I like him. He was the first choice to do the show but had commitments as he was then studying for the ministry.
Well, it's all moot for me because my local station, WABC, dropped the show altogether and now the Manhattan area does not hear the show. They replaced it with the 'Redeye express' which tries to be a logical middle of the road political talk show. It's more interesting than Noory, I think.
I think C2C is probably losing more and more affiliates - Noory's lack of creativity and ignorance is sending it down the tubes, and he is writing books and trying to cash in as best he can, squeezing every cent possible from it.
I wish I could get Ian's regular show that he does with his wife. I like the guy. He's smart and fast and fun.

Yes, your right...Nori doesn't challenge his guests enough...he let's them get away with absurd comments...
Like the other day a guest implied that America was at war with Iraqis...
If I were George Nori...I would of responded
'Hey, we're not at war with Iraqi citizens...we're at war with foriegn elements in Iraqi who are causing trouble and killing people with bombs, like what happened today'...
But instead George Nori just let him get away with that comment...I can't stand a talk show host without conviction...

It's not what it once was, although I leave it on at night, my subconscious sleep sorts it out.

Maybe the guy meant we invaded a country that had nothing to do with the attack on 911 - so, we declared war on innocent people.

No ones innocent...no one...and no people are innocent...but i get your point....
But I think the Bush Admins aim was to remove Saddams regime...
Infact I remember before the invasion, Saddam was given a altermaidem to step down...
I think Bush and Cheney thought they were 'liberating' the Iraqis from a brutal regime...
I don't think Bush or Cheney ever declared the Iraqi citizens as 'the enemy'...rather the Iraqi citizens were looked at as the 'victims'...and Bush and Cheney wanted to free them from a 'brutal' dictator...
I'm not saying the invasion was right or wrong...but I do know the Bush Admin never made the Iraqi citizens out to be the enemies...
But between the fighting with Al quida and all the other foriegn fighters and mullas...the citizens just sometimes got caught in the cross fire...

Sorry. I guess I thought you were making a different point.
Yes, we kill innocents and so do they, which is a shame of war. I guess the diff is that we don't target civilians, as they say.
I have heard Noory have one guest on and agree with some viewpoint expressed and not too long afterwards have another guest with an opposing viewpoint, and agree with that, as well.
I think Noory is in it for the fast buck. He must know his days are numbered. It's a shame. There should be a place for this kind of programming. Art built it up into a nationwide audience, which is no easy feat, and now it is just being torn down again.
There used to be a few shows, but only Long John Nebel comes to mind, which were sort of a Larry King assortment of guests, but also some flakier topics such as C2C usually covers. Some people/guests were either such airheads or so far out in the schtick they were selling to push their book that John would ridicule the heck out of them. That was fun and much of the time I didn't mind seeing them squirm because they were trying to scam the public in some way.
There was a VERY interesting book out about a weird experience by his wife and co-host, Candy Jones. Candy was important in her own right, a top model who ran her own modeling agency. The book was still available on Amazon, second hand, I believe.
If they had chosen a host with intelligence and creativity that person could have salvaged the show in some way. Instead it's going down the toilet.

Hey, have you ever thought about who Noris replacement should be when he leaves?
What do you think about Jack Nickolson (The Shining)....I think Jack would make an interesting host for that show...
I've also heard...Oh whos the guy who played opposite Eddie Murphy in Trading places, and the Blues Brothers...
I'll think of his name shortly...but I hear in real life he's a big paranormal fan....

Dan Ackroyd. An OCD cop-fan paranormal believer--yep, he'd be a good fit for CTC.
