I'm very fond of old time radio shows since I listened to them as a boy in the days before TV. Many of the younger members here have never heard these wonderful shows that played in "the theater of the mind".

Just click on the one you want to enjoy!

"Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of men? The Shadow knows."

I really loved that radio show.

We just completed a trip up to Ohio for Christmas, and listened to the Radio Classics channel all the way there and back. I had never heard any of these showsbefore, but we had a great time listening to the Whistler, Fibber McGee & Molly, Suspense, and Father Knows Best. A few of the shows did not hold up well (especially the stand-up comedy/variety shows), but most were very entertaining, even for my 5 and 9 year old girls. It was funny to hear the level of sarcasm in the radio version of Father Knows Best, and the fact that the dad called his kids names, including "stupid!!" Very different from the TV version.

For those who might find this type of radio show entertaining enough to want to hear more the link I provided sells MP3 versions of most of the shows (and there are a huge number to listen to!) on Cd's for about $5 a disk (each disk hold about 50 shows give or take). The compressed cd's require a computer or certain cd players that can play compressed mp3's ( they are listed on the site in the link).

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation beyond being a satisfied customer to the linked online seller.
