I sent Rosie, my 14 year old shepherd/beagle mix, to the bridge tonight. I'm pretty sure she had cancer, and her health was deteriorating fast. She had such a hard time getting up and walking and she really started struggling to breathe.
So sorry for your loss. She is now running the great fields of the sky, happy and healthy, with lots of new friends. Many of my past fur-babies are there with her. <<hugs>>
You did the right thing, and Rosie loves you all the more for it. That kind of love is eternal. She doesn't want you to be sad. Grieve as you must - it is very personal. I am still grieving. I know how you feel and it will get better. Your picture is beautiful and symbolic.
Peace be with you.

I realized after I posted it there's a bridge in it. We both enjoyed the beautiful weather and fresh air that day. I hold on to those memories.
I am glad I had a chance to meet her. She was a sweet dog.
I am glad, too.
