Default Kamikaze

Today the love of my life died - I begged her not to go but she went ...alone and afraid of what was happening to her...
Kamikaze and her brother were born the first week of October, 1997 in my backyard to a feral cat .... the mother took care of the little ones for a few weeks and then disappeared .... I had been putting food out there for her and noticed she was gone but the 'father' came every once in a while to see the little ones .... I started giving them soft food as I couldn't catch them to bring them inside my house (they would run and hiss and hide)... then after a few weeks the male cat stopped coming to my backyard and since it was getting colder I grabbed the male kitten (his rear leg looked deformed and he was running any more from me) .... a week later he died in my arms .... at about the same time we had a huge snowstorm and I decide to try and catch Kamikaze. My son blocked any opening in the backyard first (while Kamikaze hid behind some wooden planks which were covered with snow). He then put heavy leather gloves on and grabbed her - she fought and hissed and tried to scratch everything on him ... she also never forgave him ... anytime she saw him she would hiss ....
It took two long years to gain her trust - til she finally would lay down on my lap and purr for me - she loved being petted .... when I was watching tv she would come by my feet and 'stand' up on her rear legs and beg for me to pick her up ... when I was working on the computer she would be by my feet again looking up at me and with a tiny voice 'ask' me to pet her ........ and I would tell her in a little while .... her fur was so soft I called her my little bunny rabbit ... about four years ago she developed kidney failure and almost died ... but after spending a week at the vet hospital she pulled through and came home - I made sure she got what she needed - kd dry food and lots of love and attention ....she adored one of my male cats Sammy and when he died two years ago she seemed lost ... looking for him and crying ..... I will bury my little bunny rabbit next to Sammy in my back yard
I will miss her terribly

I'm so sorry for the loss of this precious and beloved feline.
What an amazing story, I'm so glad you were able to take her in and gain her trust. A kitty who might never have known the love of a human or the luxury of indoor life got to experience these things all because of you and your giant heart! I know the pain is sharp and the loneliness profound, but take comfort in knowing you gave her a wonderful life and her spirit is connected to you forever. (((HUGS)))

I'm sorry for your loss. You gave her a great life and lots of love. Some one else on the forum gave some great advice...remember the joy she gave you and take comfort in that.

Thank you for the kind words .... right now I'm remembering the times I ignored her when she was at my feet and asking me in her little voice for attention and I would say in a little while .... I have to bury her today and I'm afraid ... it's so cold outside

It's so hard to lose a pet that you've loved for so long. Her life in your home was a pleasant and long one. She knew the comfort of a caring family. The memories of your time together will eventually warm that empty place she left behind.

So sorry for your loss. She is now running the great catnip fields of the sky, happy and healthy, with lots of new friends. My Katrina and Emma were there to greet her. <<hugs>>
