Hi everyone!
I'll be away on a trip from June 30 to July 5. I just visited a kennel in Carrboro and it really will not be a nice place for my dog. She's 10 years old, a very quiet, older Chihuahua, and she would hate to be around a lot of barking. This is the only kennel I've ever visited... are they all so loud with barking? It would make sense, but what do those of you who have quiet dogs do? I'm thinking pet sitting might be a better option, but a place where she could have a quiet place to board and be around a person all the time would be the best. She can get very lonely by herself and really is very social and loves being around people. Does anyone have any experience with Carrboro Animal Hospital's boarding? That is where she goes to the vet, but it always seemed like there was quite a bit of barking from the kennel whenever I've taken her for an appointment. Thanks for your help! I am willing to board her anywhere in the Triangle area as long as the place is quiet and good for older, quiet dogs. |

I used to work at Petsmart as a dog trainer. In the PetHotel, they have "atriums" for some of the dogs who need more room or a more "quieter" place to stay. When I did private training, I would actually take the dog into the atrium room because it does block out all the kennel barking. They have a TV in there too that helps ease up the environment.
I highly recommend the Pethotel, the prices are the same as any kennels, plus there are more employees on hand CONSTANTLY supervising the dogs. They get play time (a little extra), walks and lots of attention. My older dogs get atrium rooms when they board. They always look so relaxed when I pick them up and quite frankly, they put up a fight when its time to leave, lol. There are only two Petsmarts in the Triangle area that have the Petshotel. One is at the Capital Blvd/Millbrook location, the other is in Cary at Crossroads. Hope that helps! |
