2 small dogs. He needs to take them out 3x a day (morning, dinner, and bedtime) and feed them 2x a day (morning and dinner). No need to walk them, give them medicine, etc.

Well, if it helps give any perspective, we pay a professional pet sitter about $15/day to come over once and feed our 2 cats, clean the litter box, bring in the mail, water plants, etc. I would think $20-$30/day would be fair given the extra trips and whatnot.

I also pay a professional petsitter $15 a day. I'd say since he lives right next door (no travel involved), there's no walking involved, and he's not a professional, $15-20 should be good. I bet he's just excited for a little pocket money!

Calculate how much time (in hours) he'll be working each day and multiply that by what you consider to be a fair hourly wage. I pay a teen $10/hour to be a mommy's helper for my toddler, which is a very demanding job!

Each time should only take about what... 15min? I would probably go with $10/day. Maybe I'm just cheap though. Is it a younger teen? (13 - 15) or an older one? If its an older one I might go up to $12 - 15 just to keep them motivated.

My son is paid by our neighbor $10/day for a once per day walk over there to let out 2 dogs and play in the yard, check the water, feed the cat... If it is more than once per day or for a whole week perhaps offer pay by the job for the whole week at a set price?

Based on what my kids get paid I'd say $10 to $15 ($3 to $5 a visit) a day is fair. You may also want to consider asking the teen to bring in your mail or water plants if needed.

If this truly is a next door neighbor (vs a kid that needs to come from across the neighborhood) and there is no walking involved then $10 is fair.

I would say $15-$20 a day is fair. PLEASE make sure their parents are making sure they are doing it or set up a hidden camera. I have heard horror stories from clients whose neighborhood kids were neglectful.
