In a past incarnation (read that as before becoming a parent ;-) I was a Patient Advocate for a short time. Another possibility is finding out who manufacturers the medication you need and apply for "patient assistance" with them. Many drug companies offer programs to assist the public with obtaining prescription medications that could not otherwise afford. It's not free, but it's helpful in some cases.
Look at the insert that comes with your medication or call a Pharmacy to ask for the drug manufacturer's name.
