they don't know your concern is accurate or what the property lines are. Your neighbor will probably be reasonable and contact them. I have learned that Directv is a regional operation and this region is not as competent with installations as some others. I had Directv tell me that. It is understandable and deals with growth etc. The installer was probably paid by the job and the more he gets done the better. If he has to come out and redo he probably will not get paid. I had difficulty having mine installed as there were issues between the installer and the supervisor. The installer wants the most easy high paid jobs possible. My favorite story was having Directv installed in a house up north and having all kinds of trouble getting it aligned. Multiple visits and it was obvious they were incompetent. I finally had a tech come out and get it done quickly and efficiently with my help yelling out numbers from inside. When I eventually had to had the roof done and the dish taken down I dreaded the reinstall. The roofing company was top flight and one of the roofers was there satellite dish specialist. He took it down reinstalled it with perfect reception with no help from me and just smiled when I complemented him.

I really don't understand all the fuss - its a dish on a pole, not a swimming pool. Where exactly is it anyway, close to the border between the two properties? Or is it blocking your front door? I could understand getting so upset if you couldn't get outside your house, but if you're talking about being 4-5 feet on your property... good grief!

There is NO way I'd want my neighbor's satellite dish on my property. It's her property!

I'd be bugged, too. If it just happened yesterday, maybe the neighbor will take care of it quickly (hopefully they are a good neighbor). But I think it's baloney that the company took no responsibility, regardless of whether they contract out installation or not. They should have done something rather than to leave the ball in your court. Good luck.

Of course - but there is no need to get so upset - its a pole in the ground and it will probably be moved in a few days.

This thread gave me a chuckle. I feel for the OP. Sometimes there is so much "red tape" that is is surreal.

I'm sure it will work out fine in the end.

Hey, guesss what? You now own a Direct TV dish! Woohoo! However, to keep peace and harmony with your neighbor you might want to eventually have this conversation with him. If he/she is as ambivalent as DTV was, post the link to the video and I will be happy to watch; synchronized to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

Wow, some of these replies are just WOW! If I came home and found a dish mounted on a pole in my property it would be removed and trashed as soon as I could get the car parked. IT'S YOUR PROPERTY!!! If you want it gone take it down!! The neighbor can't be mad at you for not having television. They need to be mad at DirectTV for an incorrect installation.

I'm pretty surprised at some of the responses too...I would not be happy if someone installed something in my yard that belonged to my neighbor. Of course it will all work out, but it is a frustrating situation. Hope it gets worked out quickly for you!

If they mounted it in your yard, it must be a present. Dig up the cable and reconnect it to your unit.
