We live in Cary, friends just arrived and it's 99 degrees out. Does anyone have ideas what we can do in the next few days that's "touristy?" We're familiar with the museums but what else would be interesting? (We have ONE day (maybe two) and need to stick near the triangle area)
TIA!

Malls.

Hee-hee just kidding.

Movies! Yeah, that's the ticket.

Frankie's (games), near Brier Creek. (But way too hot to go outside there.)

Other than that, I got nuthin'.

Maybe Jelly Beans rollerskating?

(I'm thinking of stuff for kids. Have no clue what to do for only adults in the heat.)

We're staying home. Cooking at home. Boring!

You neglected to mention their interests.

Despite the heat, I'd suggest bringing lots of water and seeing the Arboretum in Raleigh, the Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill, or Duke Gardens in Durham.

If you're up for a one day road trip, there is the aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Live music, try the WKNC rock report for a list of venues if rock, blues, or house are your thing.

Don't know about your music tastes but Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, and Chevelle are going to be at the Raleigh Downtown Amphitheater tomorrow night:

There's also the State Farmers Market. Open every day (hours change):

Do you guys appreciate local brewing at all? I can give you some locations of some local breweries such as Big Boss and Boylan Bridge.

I thought the OP wanted to get out of the heat. There is plenty to do if you don't mind crazy heat.

I second this! My friends from other areas have loved visiting Duke Gardens, and you can just stop by for an hour in the morning while it's still pleasant out.

well, this won't get you out of the heat but Duke is a must see. Absolutely beautiful campus and Duke Chapel is amazing.
