Perhaps I was being a bit dramatic, but you get the point. An improperly maintained landing strip will eventually result in failure. That failure will most likely occur when a plane strikes the surface in some fashion.

Eventually being the operative word. Like I said plenty of other runways that are much worse off and still fine.

You do realize that their are hundreds of dirt, gravel, and grass landings strips all over the world that planes including commercial land on everyday? Heck, pilots are even landing commercial planes in the river and the planes are faring just fine!

wearing those rose colored glasses must help ; I lost count of the 100's of posts you have made on Wake County Schools and it demonstrates a subject that you are passionate about. Some of us are equally passionate about extravagant expenditures by public bodies - just my 2 cents
