I hear Wolfpack sporting events are amazing experiences for fans, and that men's basketball and football are treated as pro teams. I will be visiting soon to check out a game for both and am very excited. Any idea's on places to go before and after games for drinks and after hours fun. Is NC State a big time deal for most sports fans unless your a fan of UNC or Duke? Is it only possible to get tickets on things like stubhub for the games?

Hmm. I am a Wolfpack fan but not sure about the "treated as pro teams" thing, but it's great fun to go to a game---we go to football games but not basketball. Tailgating beforehand (and after) is a big deal and fun! We don't do bars before or after so I will have to let someone else give you hints on that..Backyard Bistro and TK Tripps are restaurants closeby. As for tickets, after the first game or two, you can often pick them up there from someone who has extras, especially if we lose the first few games

I agree....for football, you bring the party with you and make an entire day of it.
Football tix aren't impossible to come by but good parking spaces are a bit more difficult. I'd buy tix from a season tickets holder and ask them for the parking space too as part of the deal. If you buy left over tix from the university, they won't be good seats and you won't get a parking pass. I'll let others chime in as to what website is the best one to find tix. Perhaps Craigslist?
...just my 2 cents.

To give you a perspective, NC State's football stadium holds less than 60K fans. College football in NC is not nearly as big as in other states. College basketball on the other hand is a different story, although NC State's performance lags Duke's and UNC's.

Twongo has a deal today for 1/2 price tix for either of 2 home games. I am sure they are not great seats but would be a good way to check it out for 1/2 price. The deals are only for one day, though, so you'll have to jump on it if you want it. NC State University Deal of the Day | Groupon Raleigh / Durham

It's not that they are "treated as pro teams"--college basketball in particular is WAYYY more popular here than any pro teams. Football is less so than, say, Texas or Nebraska, but college basketball here is probably like football in Nebraska.

Anyway--you can usually scalp football tickets to almost any game the day of the event (for actual price or close to it) just by showing up and finding someone. Actually, online "deals" such as groupon.com sometimes offer deal son football tickets (I think I saw one just yesterday or even today, but have deleted it).

Basketball tickets are another story here, but football shouldn't be hard to get.

Oops, it was Groupon not Twongo...link is correct, just called it the wrong thing.
