Looking for help in finding showroom that sells good quality contemporary bedroom furniture...I heard NC is the state for furniture, but haven't seen too many yet in my travels although still new to area. Anyone out there with suggestions on where locally I can find what I'm looking for? Thank you!

You might want to check out Bedroom and Sofa Emporium off of Cary Parkway...I purchased a sofa there a few years ago.

There's Nowell's Contemporary Furniture (I haven't been there personally though).

Nowell's and Ambiente for contemporary stuff. Both are great, and probably have the largest selections in the area for that.

Don't bother with Bedroom and Sofa Emporium. We stopped there a few times to try and order some custom Rowe furniture. The sales people are less than helpful, and they keep all the names of the fabrics covered up so you can't see them. I'm guessing this is to keep people from looking at the fabrics in their store, then going home and buying from an online dealer. The net result is not being able to note down which fabrics you like, or google them to try and see some examples.

We ended up driving all the way to High Point, but found a Rowe dealer who was 1000x more helpful.

I really liked the furniture at Bassett on Glenwood. I bought 2 bedroom sets, a kitchen table and some barstools from them. I think my style is/was more transitional than contemporary tho. Nowells is known for contemporary stuff.

We recently outfitted our place with all contemporary furniture so here's what we found out. If you're talking about european modern/contemporary and not martha stewart contemporary, then you practically have only 4 choices here. Ambiente (Brier Creek), Nowells (Cary), Ecko (Glenwood), and a new one called Contemporary Concepts (Glenwood).

Ambiente has the largest showroom and collection. Prices are reasonable, although a bit high. They have a clearance section. Nowells is Scandanavian furniture store in Cary and is outrageous in terms of pricing. Not worth it in my opinion and everything has to be ordered. Ecko is the most reasonably priced, but their selection is lacking. Contemporary Concepts is new and they can order anything off their catalog. I don't know but for some reason I didn't trust that place.
