There are literally 8-10 furniture stores along Glenwood between 440 and 540 in Raleigh. I've never been in them but as soon as we need to furniture shop, that's where we're headed - the aforementioned Bassett is there, among other things. CarMax too, if you wanted to look at cars while you are at it!

My husband and I just moved to the Raleigh/Durham area on Saturday. We had planned on buying a new couch and loveseat when we got down here, but our current set didn't survive the move very well and now I'm looking for a new couch and loveseat to buy ASAP. (The springs are so shot we can't really enjoy sitting in our new living room.) Can anyone recommend a furniture store similar to "Rooms to Go" - w/the same or higher quality - that is close, fairly priced, and that we don't have to wait a month to get our furniture delivered? I'm also looking for a large selection. Your feedback is very much appreciated.

Thanks.
I can second the vote for Heaveners on Glenwood ave (Nr Carmax). They have a vast showroom of samples that are well priced and are currentlt having a sale.
WE recently bought a hight quality counter height kitchen dining table with 6 stools and a buffet hutch/sideboard for the ridiculous price of $595. It can be hit or miss as to what they have in but its all pretty good quality

Bassett is wonderful and we just bought there this past weekend. The drawback is the month delay in delivery.

You can also try Heavner's on Glenwood or Carolina Sofa Company. Good luck.
Monks and Heaver's are great if they have what you want. You can get delivery within a day or two which is important to you. Have purchased from both.

Haverty's is great. Most reliable.

Rooms to Go has a dismal record for customer service. That's why they constantly offer free financing and no payment deals.

The News & Observer, Raleigh, N.C., Retailing Column: Firm Sees Its Future in Service - Technology - RedOrbit

Scroll down the article til you get to MJ 's Market Treasure in the South Hills shopping center. They are relatively new and advertise on tv. However the construction folks working in the development who are old time born, raised and bred in the Triangle area told me about them also and gave me the history of the owner. He is a spinoff of long time furniture traders with a great reputation. Like Heavners etc. I am finding that the good old guys know where to go and where to buy and if you just chat with the guys building in your neighborhood you will hit the jackbox.
