Default Alt-Country in the Triangle

I am moving in two weeks and Im excited

Does anyone have a finger on the Alt-Country scene in the Triangle area? I wish I was in the area when Whiskeytown and Ryan Adams were coming up, but I know there is probably still a good scene there. Anyone have any suggestions about the best places to catch live music, best local bands, etc.

cheers

daveguy, this is a hotbed of the alt-country scene. Whiskeytown has morphed into Patty Hurst Shifter and they play occasionally. Their favorite joint is Sadlack's on Hillsborough St which is a really cool local bar. Other spots to catch some alt-country are Hideaway BBQ and the POur House.

Some of the best venues in my opinion are the Lincoln Theater and Cat's Cradle (in Carborro). Grab a copy of the Independent weekly to find out when your favorite band is coming in town.

my computer had issues last night and ate my posts, but i was also going to suggest the lincoln theater (i also confess it is owned by a friend of mine!) but the music scene there is very eclectic, they have a calendar online.
