I'm not much of a sports fan and I don't want to read the sports news but I do live in Chapel Hill and am aware of a big mess with UNC football. Would someboy kindly and briefly explain just what happened and who is involved?
Marvin Austin - a highly decorated senior DL who will probably be a top 10 pick in the NFL draft attended a party thrown by a sports agent in Miami. He then went on to tweet about that and some high value purchases he made on a shopping trip inside the DC metro. To compound matters he complained often by way of twitter, about not having money and being poor/broke.
NCAA - The NCAA is investigating and found that several other players had attended this party in Miami. Right now the NCAA is trying to identify if benefits were gained from the relationship in the form of money-gifts-trips...which is a big nonono...
Coach Blake - assistant coach - responsible for the DL. Has a relationship with the sports agent in question and a couple former players have signed with the agent. He quit just yesterday due to the atmosphere and investigation...
Isn't there a seperate investigation being done by the school for academic cheating? Like tutors writing the players papers? This is why many of them had to sit out the game?

Yes, there is an investigation into cheating. My guess is that the NCAA discovered this in their investigation and the university has agreed to take over that part of the inquiry.

Yep....it's called the UNC HONOR COURT...and there ain't one anywhere tougher
so this tutor was a woman. Was she a student? who supervises the tutors?
Back many years ago, it was always assumed football and other college sport players were just in school to play sports and everybody knew they weren't too bright. Don't mean to offend but that was the impression alot of folks had about college players.
So now are you saying this isn't so, that college sport players actually have to be able to read and write, attend classes, pass courses?
Can't some college players go on to play pro without graduating from college? What percentage of pro players are college graduates? I appreciate the info you are sharing.
