They are both in the Bible belt so your first concern is really no concern at all.

Better for a christian family...equal
-Better for for friendly people...equal
-Better parks...equal
-Better PRIVATE schools...I think Raleigh just because they have more.
-Better museums...depends Durham has an awesome kids science museum, love it there, but Raleigh has all the state museums (art museum, history and natural sciences, plus exploris)
-Better suited for kids...equal
-Better shopping malls (centers) Durham has the awesome new Streets of Southpointe, but Raleigh has some nice malls too
-Better movie theatres...equal
-Better restruants (difficult word to spell)...I'd lean towards Durham for ecletic restaurants, but again, Raleigh has some places too
-Greater population of retired folks...no idea, if I had to guess I'd say Raleigh
-Greater population of kids... no idea
-More beautiful nature..equal
-Better commute times to work depends on where you live in either city and where you work. If it's RTP, I'd say Durham
-Greater quantity of things to do with family...depends on what you like to do..probably equal, maybe more in Raleigh
-Better city for soccer teams (Ages 4-18)???..I'd say Raleigh (CASL plus indoor soccer places) but you'll find them in both places.
I don't think you can go wrong in either place.
