Where exactly is it? I live south of Lake Wheeler and could do a drive-by after work. Do you live out of town and need a general impression?

Nope. Sorry. Lots of subdivisions and I haven't seen one called "Lake Wheeler". Do you have a street name? That would really help. Or even the MLS number so that I could map it.

Allwood Drive perhaps?
I see it now. No wonder I'm not familiar with the subdivision. It's all the way over on the other side of the lake from me. I'm not familiar with this subdivision, but I can tell you that I've driven past this area a few times. In fact, there is a subdivision only about 1/2 mile north of these houses that we wanted to buy a house in, but the owners decided to take it back off the market.
This area (including the area that I live in) is unincorporated Wake county and is a mixture of homes. Much of the land is still rural, with some farms and some subdivisions and planned developments mixed in. In one area you may have a family farm. Next to it may be a simple subdivision of houses from the 1960's. Next to that may be a brand new luxury subdivision with houses over a million dollars.
The nice thing is that you still have the rural feel, but you are only a few miles from downtown Raleigh and the shopping and restaurants at Cary's Crossroads mall. Very convenient location.

Boy, looks like someone got in over their head on that one priced at 199,900. That's a fixer-upper.

Yeah, I actually emailed my realtor about that one when I saw the listing. Per the MLS comments, the guy started fixing it up and got transferred out of town. Looks like quite the project - but kinda neat for someone who is handy (my dad could so do that!). It'll be interesting to see how long it sits on the market.. and then see if it's just "flipped" or someone lives in the house.
