Need recommendations for doctor to repair hernia (Raleigh: insurance, live)

I have a male friend who needs a hernia repair on one side only. He likes the idea of having it done laparoscopically, but apparently several complex factors determine whether that's the best approach in any given case.

Given this, we are looking for a surgeon who can best advise my friend and who is highly skilled in laparoscopic and/or open surgery hernia repair. My friend lives in Raleigh, but would welcome recommendations for doctors anywhere in the Triangle; the most important thing is finding the best doctor.

My friend has excellent insurance coverage and money is not a problem here.
