It depends. It is a fun little place, and the tasting flight is free, but I wouldn't rank their wines as the best I've ever had (nowhere near as good as the Yadkin Valley wineries).
But, it is a fun little stop if you've never been before. You can try a lot of wines that you won't find elsewhere-- i.e. scuppernong varietals.
Duplin is nothing like you'll see in Napa or even the NC foothills, but it's worth a stop. Muscadine wines are an acquired taste if you're used to European varietals, but it's an easily acquired taste. Not all Muscadine wines are sweet.
The three primary varietals of Suppernong are Magnolia, Noble, and Carlos. I prefer them over Labrusca wines from way up north.
Hinnant, another one of the down-east wineries, makes a pretty decent Norton (a dry red from the native aestivalis grapes).
Thank you for recommending that we stop. Other then drinking wine occasionally, we don't know much about wine & had never been to a winery. I guess for someone like us, we found it very interesting & look forward to visiting other wineries around NC. Lots of fun wine trivia from our tour guide and one of the best free activities we've been to in ages.
