My 23-year old, able-bodied son is looking for work that he can do after he is out of school at 5PM each day. Other than supermarkets, which he will pursue, where should he look? Do you know of any openings in the Cary area?

I've seen a few signs in the Crossroads area - Bed, Bath, & Beyond comes to mind. snagajob.com is a good website to check for those type of positions.

Home Depot or Lowes. But I'd expect he'd need to have some fix it knowledge unless he does the folk lift which I think they have to be certified for or something like that.

Thanks for the snagajob.com reference. He is already using it. There are a several things on there for which he might be well suited. Thanks.

If I were 23, in school, and looking to make some cash after 5pm I would look into bartending gigs. Either at actual pubs or in restaurants. Working a job that pays tips will likely generate more revenue over the long haul than a general retail job with a basic hourly wage.

NRG, that's a great suggestion. Are there any bartending schools in the area?

My daughter was a bartender in Manhattan at a bar frequented by the rich and famous. She didn't go to bartending school. She bought a book and studied it.

Here is a link to an inexpensive DVD/download/tape on how to bartend:

He can start today. Where is the facility, and how does he apply? He would love to do something physical.
