Thanks, boardjnky4. Life now is about 180 degrees from what it was before he got sick, but we just try to deal with it and keep moving forward. The old cliche about one day at a time is really true when you're faced with something like this. To keep the post local: we're really blessed to have such amazing medical care at Duke! The Brain Tumor Center there is top notch.

Skater - I am so sorry to hear of the challenges you and your husband are facing. However, as you noted, you are in excellent hands. There are many fine clinicians there who are totally dedicated to their patients, including the wonderful Dr Friedman.

I'm sure you been given lots of resources and done your own research. The Tug McGraw Foundation has a great site as does the Musella Foundation and others. like most families going through this, you are probably quite an expert by now. Is your hubby going into a vaccine trial?

Many miracles happen there, my wish is for you to receive yours.

Actually, the Krispy Kreme on Peace street closes the store at midnight, but the drive through stays open all night. That was the first place I researched!

Yes, indeed. Lots of research & hooked up with some others locally who are also dealing with Glioblastoma.

After his first tumor was successflly removed by Dr. Friedman and he made it through the first radiation & chemo round, he enrolled in one of the vaccine trials at Duke. After only 3 treatments, a second (inoperable) tumor developed, so he was no longer eligible for the trial. Now that he's receiving Avastin + CPT-11 + Carboplatin, he's not eligible for most of the trials. Unfortunate, but we'll keep researching eligibility requirements for some of the trials.

Thank you so much. So far, the 3-drug combo has shrunk the tumor, and we're trying to remain hopeful. I appreciate your kind words. It's been a rough year.
