Oh, right....I was figuring that 47 is "older" than the college kids. I currently live in San Diego, originally from Boston area...though I've been pronouncing my "r's" now for longer than I haven't.

I've really enjoyed your responses and all the great info. I'll definitely do my research and tour the area. The amount of "home" for the money is so much more than So Cal. The more I find out, the more happy I am to be landing in NC.

I use Trulia to do my home searches. They have a lot of information and their street views have provided a different point of view than one might get from only the realtor's photos. Let us know how the weather compares to San Diego, especially the humidity. I know someone who owns a bookstore in Chapel Hill and he has warned me about the humidity. Ouch!

I noticed a nice new feature on realtor.com (is it ok to mention that site here?) - they list the previous two years of tax bills for properties. Very helpful! You can also look up those bills on the Durham County public records site if you have an address.
