On a related note, anyone know the status of the I-40/I-540 entrance work by Aviation Pkwy? It seems to be getting better but I can't find anything on the DOT site that's recent. When that's done it's gonna shave 5 minutes off my commute to work. (every little bit helps)

The N&O article posted above had some info on the 40/540 ramp also. I can't remember specifics but it was to be done pretty soon iirc.

The N&O also ran a story this weekend about the I-40 and I-540 projects:

Well I'll be; the same story published twice four days apart. I'm shocked - SHOCKED - that the N&O would regurgitate old content and pass it off as new news. Usually it seems like they do that with news from other sources -now they're doing it with their own stuff. And they wonder why their subscriptions are dwindling. Last week's news, anyone?

Anywho, thanks for pointing out that the "news" item I linked to is a repeat of that posted earlier.

In its defense, the earlier item (which I linked) was a blog post, and obviously they can put up blog posts whenever they want. It appears they waited until Saturday to put the news story in the paper because that's when they run the "Road Warrior" column (which I presume is where the second article came from).

Why are they only opening 3 lanes in the end, with a large shoulder (for expansion in the future)??? The future IS HERE NOW!! We need 4 lanes open per side!! We have a HUGE traffic problem NOW! Why not give us the 4 lanes that are currently there, instead of only 3 with a big shoulder. I really don't this logic!!!???
