Don't you think at some point during his prior 2 DUI arrests (one of which he pleaded guilty to) he heard about the dangers of drinking & driving.

Except for the fact that this person does not know me, who I know or don't know, or what experiences I've had in this lifetime. They did okay with the spelling though.

And to think people in this thread are still sticking up for the pos! I'm just waiting for the next moron to say, "Aww, it's sad the girl got killed but this man was an excellent surgeon who was compassionate and worked hard to achieve his goals only to succumb to a horrible disease which ruined his life."

Also notice you'll see me refer to him as either "Cook" or mostly "pos" but you won't see the word doctor put in front of his name by me. He is no longer a doctor.

Back in May the news ran a story that he was offered a plea deal
and that the details of the plea would remain confidential until
Cook & his attorney decided whether to accept it.

At some point I heard he did not accept the plea.

Does anyone know if the details of the plea that he did not accept would
be public information????

I can't believe this topic has not been brought back up yet. Well, actually, I can since DUI's seem to be no big deal to most people. Heck, there are some who are actually sticking up for this has been doc. Yeah, whatever, suck 'em.
Has anyone been following the trial so far? I think it's blatantly obvious that Cook is all about himself. The judge should have made Cook go outside and look at the car.

I can. I think it is morbid and distasteful how some people use the internet to engage in idle gossip about crimes and local tragedies. Pretending that it is a "thoughtful debate" or "sharing of information" is a thin cover. At times it appears like it is nothing more than a form of entertainment to them and a way to pass the time for some individuals on this forum.

Quite sad really.

Are you saying the case is sad..
or are you saying the thread & discussion is sad..

Why would awareness of a problem like DUI deaths and interest in a
local case be sad???

ps... I have followed this case since it happened and I am thrilled it is on WRAL ..
I will be watching every bit of it .. I would like to do what I can to work for tougher DUI laws & sentencing ..

Please explain yourself further. Am I understanding correctly that you feel we are not supposed to discuss this and just push it under the rug because it's a tragedy? A preventable tragedy.

I get what he's saying. I don't think NRG wants to push it under the rug.

I have an acquaintance who LOVES to talk about every headline-making murder or tragedy. She goes over all of the details, as if she relishes them. I've mentioned more than once that I don't like to dwell on the details of such things, yet it doesn't stop her. I'm not necessarily saying it's what's happening here, but it's a common occurrence for people to use events like this in that manner.

I really hope this guy is convicted and sentenced to the full extent of the law. However, I'm not going to be glued to the TV reports as if it's entertainment.
