An alternative to the NJ Turnpike would be I-295. There aren't any tolls and you will be able to pick up I-95 right at the Delaware Memorial Bridge and head south from there towards Baltimore.

When I visit family in Northern NJ, I pick up 295 just south of Princeton. It may not be the fastest way to go, but it is definitely more scenic.

Safe travels!

I highly recommend not to go 95 the entire way! We went through western MA first, through Connecticut and down to NYC. It will take so much longer, its important to make sure you leave very early (5am no later) in the morning to miss traffic in Boston and not hit the afternoon traffic in NYC. We found that the worst traffic was in the middle of no-where in Virginia around 4 in the afternoon! We made such good time up until then!

Good luck, drive safe, watch out for cops

Brier Creek is MUCH different that Boston, quite the culture shock for us at first. We are planning to move from there end of Sept, haven't really like it all that much. Just a bunch of box stores, traffic, and chair restaurants! (similiar to Natick) But we LOVE NC and are glad to move, Brier Creek just isn't for us

I dont' live far from Natick and have definitely ruled out some parts of the Triangle based on that chain store/box store/development feeling. I know that lots of people love it and I'm not knocking it because it's very convenient, but when you've done the small New England town thing for so many years, moving to an area like that is a bit of culture shock.

Watch your speed in VA.

They love to ream out-of-staters with outrageous fines.
