Good news for some, the number of potential routes has gone from 9 to 5 with both of the Southern most routes eliminated.

Why are they calling it a turnpike? Turnpikes have tolls don't they? At least that was my experience in NJ.

They are Tolling the Southern Portion of 540 in order to get it built. Supposedly they will remove the tolls once the roll is paid for. But we all know that's a lie. My co-worker said it was the same way in Jersey. Humph I bet you to drive through there now without change in your pocket. Fortunetly for me I live off the nothern section and will avoid the toll at all cost.

Not for me, unfortunately. One of the routes still passes over my driveway

Thanks for posting. The one page on their site seems to be down (overview and schedule). Is there something that says the other options are off the table completely?

I could find no words to go along with the new map. Even looked at their blog.

The Legend at the bottom right of the map page identifies:

"Corridors Removed From Consideration."

If they stick an on-ramp there, you'll have easy access to the highway!

I don't think they have any funding plans yet. Tolling is a good guess based on western wake, but who knows.
