$1.50 theater at 600 Blue Ridge Rd. Don't miss Tuesdays where you can get a $1 drink and $1 popcorn!

i saw a much older thread regarding this theater (2006) and lots of concern for safety; is that still the case today?

I haven't been over there in a few years - but was there around 2006 and didn't have any problems.

The parking lot itself is pretty dark, so take caution like you would in any other parking lot. You'll most likely find more college kids than anything else there at night. Daytime tends to draw the families + kids from what I remember.

Its an older theater so it has a slight sketchy feel/vibe to it, but I can't really recall any specific "events" happening there. I used to park next door in the K-Mart parking lot for football games, and my car was never broken into or vandalized.

I've been to the $1.50 theater a few times this year. It isn't quite as nice as your typical multiplex, but it isn't bad or somehow unsafe. There are TONS of families there with kids. Makes sense since taking a bunch of kids to a regular theater gets expensive.

Just remember, aside from speacial deal nights, the concessions are pretty much as expensive as regular theaters.

I haven't been in 2 years now, but I went weekly when I lived around the corner from that theater. I never felt unsafe.

The theater is older and not as well maintained, but for $1.50 you can't beat it.

I came from Columbia, SC which has the world's scariest $1.50 theater. A general rule of thumb was nto to go at night. This theater is SO different. It's busy almost all the time with families, couples, college students- everyone basically, which I really like. The staff has always been friendly and I've never seen unsavory characters hanging around in the parking lot or anything. We go 2-3 times a week (a movie has to be REALLY good for us to want to see it right away and pay $10/person) and have never had a safety issue. Basically, I love the $1.50 theater!
