Has anyone challenged the grandiose City of Raleigh on their "account setup" charge of $50 on water service, just cause you move home (within Raleigh)?
To me this is just money for nothing or very little.

If so I'd be keen to know what happened.

Raising fee's is one way to make ends meet during this bleak economy.

Your post doesn't do anything to address my question.
And do you really think the city isn't squandering & wasting millions elsewhere already?

I'm in the town of Cary and they did charge us a fee like that when we moved in (I'm referring to my bill for water, sewer, and garbage). We got the fee back when we showed them a letter from our water provider in NY stating that we always paid our bills on time. Did you ask about that?

We have been with the city for 3 years and never a problem with bill payments etc.
We also paid this setup fee when we moved to this area.
The city told us that they charge everyone this fee every time they move.

I've moved three times within Raleigh over the past ten years and don't recall ever paying this fee. My first move was from a college dorm, so no previous payment history with anyone, and I still wasn't charged.

Well, I'm not making this up!
Perhaps you should check your old bills if you still have them, or call the city to see if you paid this fee previously.

No one has said they don't believe you, merely that they haven't experienced this charge and, therefore, don't have any advice for you.

But that isn't what I am asking for?
And why would someone bother answering a post without helping with the question?
Do people have so little to do?
