My husband has interviewed for a position with a company that is located "near Cisco". I have looked up the address, but it is listed RTP which doesn't help me. Where is Cisco located inside RTP, closer to Raleigh, Durham, or CH? I am trying to find a starting point to look for places to live and schools, which are very important, we have a 10th and 7th grader.
Look in Northwest Cary. Good middle and high schools (Green Hope HS and Panther Creek HS, Mills Park, Davis Dr., Salem Middle Schools) and an easy commute to RTP. If you look at neighborhoods like Amberly or Cary Park, you'll have about a 15 minute commute.
We live on the east side of Chapel Hill, husband works at a company near Cisco, and for his commute at typical commuter times he allows 25 mins.
In case that helps.
Another thing...I have read alot about redistricting. Does this affect Wake County at the high school and middle school levels as much as the elementary? My hope, of course, is that the kids would not have to change schools.
Cary is next.
And not all that far from N Raleigh, either.
Cisco is on the Wake County side of RTP. NW Cary and Morrisville are the closest places to live. The Brier Creek area of Raleigh is a short jaunt down 540 and southern Durham, including Southpoint area, is just a bit further. With the completion of the Western Wake Freeway toll road, Apex will also be in easy reach of the Wake County side of RTP.
In my view RTP is centrally located enough that you could choose to live almost anywhere and could base your decision on something other than commute times.
The main consideration is going to be the schools. My husband commutes about 35-45 minutes(27 miles) right now, and would like to cut that, but we are concerned about moving into Wake County with the school situation. It's going to be hard enough to move a 10th and 7th grader, so stability is important to us.
Thanks for the replies!
