Just from my observations (I have helped a couple of people buy in the neighborhood), i really liked it. It is a in a great location, the houses are well built, hold their value, there are very nice ammenities (pools, playgrounds, etc). It is a big community, so when you (if) you do decide to sell down the road, there is ususally more competition (more home will be on the market because it is such a big community), but that can also help because then you have more people coming through the neighborhood.
just a thought!

Thanks for the input Leigh. My wife and I really do like that area. The Bedford Homes are out of our price range right now, but we are very keen on the Falls Glen Subdivision located adjacent to Bedford. I know the homes are much smaller, but they fit our price Range. It is my understanding that if we lived up there any children we have down the road would go to the following schools:
Elementary - Brassfield
Middle - Wakefield
High School - Wakefield
I have heard that Wakefield schoosl are very good, but I haven't heard anything about Brassfield. If anyone has any perspective on that I would be interested to hear your opinion of that elementary shcool.
Thanks!!!

I don't know if you have looked at the wake county schools website wcpss.net, but they have information on all of the schools. We thought about moving into the brassfield school district, and I only heard good things about it. Wakefield schools are good (it is the district we are in now) but they are also very very crowded. my guess is (only a guess) that wakefield elementary will go year round to help with overcrowding. So, the school situation changes a lot around here, kids are redistricted quite often (in the areas with a lot of growth). So, it is hard to buy a house with a particular school in mind because it may change!

Ummm...Leigh...are you in Raleigh? Falls Glen is NOT part of Bedford. Its a separate neighborhood and does not have a pool.
Right now, I'm not showing any homes for sale in Falls Glen. Two have recently sold. One had 1460 sq. feet and was listed at $161,900 with a single car garage. Built in 2003. The other was built in 2002 and was listed at $165,000 with a single car garage. One sold in 3 days and one sold in 4 days. Pretty quick but its a great area of North Raleigh.
If you wanted to, you could pay a fee and join Falls River pool.
You are correct on the schools. Brassfield Elementary was 'capped" last year but I think its back to taking in new students. Its quite easy to double check which address goes to which school by going to Wake County Public School's website.
Hope this helps!

Leigh and Vicki,
Thank you both so much for your insight on the Falls Glen neighborhood and the school situation in Wake county. My wife and I have only lived in Raleigh for 18 months now, but I have noticed how big an issue the school redistricting is in the county. Since my wife and I don't have any kids yet, I guess there is only so much to worry about since we can't predict the school situation 5-7 years down the road.
Although I know Falls Glen is not part of Bedford it is great that it so close to such a spectacular neighborhood. I drove through bedofrd yesterday and it blew me away! Eventhough we can't afford to buy there now it would be a great place to jog through if we lived in Falls Glen and dream about upgrading one day in the future.
Thanks for for the Info about Falls River Pool Club, we will defintely check that out as well as any other pool clubs that are in the area.
You have both been very helpful!!!

Hey NC Green...just let me know if you'd like for me to send you any listings in that area. Like I said...nothing for sale right now in Falls Glen but maybe the area around there? I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.
However...I AM taking the DAY off! Shhh...don't tell. I've been working my butt off and today is the day I do NOTHING! Well...being online is my relaxation so that doesn't count! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday! Vicki
