My wife and I are relocating to the area for employment in Hillsborough.

We have three pets and are having difficulty finding housing that accepts three animals.

Our price range is limited to around $750/mo. And, we do not mind a commute from Durham.

We would like a 2 bedroom 1.5+ bathroom town home or apartment.

We have narrowed down possible properties to:
The Forest, White Pine Dr., Durham
Hawk's Nest, Sandy Creek Dr., Durham
Ashford Lakes, Churton St, Hillsborough

We are leaning towards Ticon Properties Hawk's Nest. If anyone has information, good or bad, regarding any of these properties it would be greatly appreciated.

I lived in The Forest from 2000-2003. I loved the location and had no real problems with the place. It is an older complex though so I'm not sure how well they have kept up with the units. We pass by occasionally and they were putting new roofs on when we left, and it looks like it had been painted recently. Did you check out the complex across the street, Colonial Village at Deerfield? They're a little newer.

Don't know anything about Hawk's Nest, but Ticon manages an rental townhouse complex adjacent to my neighborhood and they take very good care of the property! You might also look at Lenox East and West managed by Ticon. It's in Durham with good access to Hillsborough. They have nice rental townhomes.

I know a few folks that live in The Forest and they enjoy it. There are a lot of grad students in that complex, if that is something you wish to consider.

I live in New Haven (also Ticon property) in Durham. I have 2 dogs-we are allowed 3. The total combined weight of all 3 dogs would have to be under 100lbs. Each dog weighing less than 50lbs (but I have seen a few here that are around 60-65lbs). Rent for 2bd 2 bath townhouse is $805 (the cheaper of the 2bdrm floor plans)with washer/dryer hookup. They can provide washer/dryer for extra $20 per month. My boyfriend and I considered moving to a cheaper apartment but most we have seen have no where near the closet space we have in the upstairs or downstairs bedroom. Our neighbors really look out for each other. We have Frankie's amusement park and Brier Creek shopping-40 shops and restaurants just 2-3 miles down the road in Raleigh. Food Lion, CVS, lots of fast food places nearby. Extremely easy access to I-40, 540 and 70! I have been here 2 years and not planning to move anytime soon. Our neighbors begged us not to move-we are very close on my street. Only one incident in 2 years with a tenant renting one of the 1bdrm apartments on the other end of the complex. We believe he took too many of his meds or didnt take any of them-either way he was evicted immediately. I have met people that have been here 8yrs. I hope you find what you are looking for- moving can be very stressful especially if you dont know anyone in that area.

Hi,

I am getting ready to move from Pine Ridge which is a Ticon Property off Fayetteville Rd., exit 278 off 40. It's less than a mile off 40. I have a 2 bedroom townhouse with an almost 60 lb dog. The pet deposit is completely refundable ( I will see in a couple weeks) and no monthly pet fee. There are a lot of people here with multiple pets.

The only thing the normal rent rate is a little more than you stated, but they do good specials.

Don't forgot to check the Apt Ratings website and Apt Reviews.
