Default Any thoughts on The Reserve subdivision??

We are thinking of purchasing a home here and are new to NC. We understand it is an established neighborhood, but would love to hear peoples opinions about the neighborhood, the construction, the prices and how they compare to similiar subdivisions in Cary, the location... etc. We have 2 small children (17 mnths and 2 1/2 years old) and my husband will be working in the southern part of RTP. Thanks for your help.

I have friends who live in the reserve (they built a house there when it was first opening) and the area has really grown around where it is. There are certainly a number of grocery stores, restaurants, shops, target, etc close by. The neighborhood has some nice trees and large lots (at least 1/4 acre if not more. That is a little different than other neighborhoods in a more central location in cary (or in morrisville, which is close to rtp).

It is a nice area, can get congested at times, but that is just because 55 is well traveled for people going to and from rtp from apex, holly springs, etc

The Reserve is a very nice established neighborhood. It has a very nice resale value for the area. Nice lots with trees like Leigh has said. Highcroft is attached to the neighborhood so you have the Town of Cary Park there as well as the nice pool in the Reserve. Highcroft also has the Elementary School but I am not sure if the elementary school is assigned to the Reserve. The commute now on 55 is much easier since they have widened it to four lanes. There is shopping nearby in Beaver Creek in Apex. All of your daily shopping can be done at High House/55 and the new Strone Creek at High House/Davis Drive. You are convenient to the new 540 opening and convenient to 64 which takes you to the beltline from 1. Good choice.

FYI. The new stretch of 540 that will open sometime in 2011 (projected) will come by the very back of the Reserve at Highcroft.

I live in Highcroft and know of quite a few families who live in the Reserve. It is a well established upscale neighborhood with large lots (upwards of .5 acres) than many of the new home communities which surround it. Prices range from the high 300's to the 600's. Turnover in the community is relatively low and I've heard of a number of families moving, but to other houses in the same neighborhood. The community has a nice pool and a swim team. There are sidewalks on only one side of the street, however a greenway was recently constructed that runs through the west side of the neighborhood. This greenway is part of a system that will eventually hook up to the Tobacco Trail.

Edgemore Avenue which runs right through the middle of it is a 25 mph speed limited road, but the road is wide and fairly highly trafficked at speeds in excess of the speed limit b/c it is a connector to the Highcroft neighborhood and the elementary school. If I lived in the Reserve I would personally avoid puchasing a home that fronts Edgemore, but wouldn't mind a home that corners onto Edgemore or any of the other roads which branch off of Edgemore.

I hope this is helpful.
