Wake County sheriff's deputies were still at the scene of a shooting just outside Apex Sunday night.
Sheriff Donnie Harrison confirmed that three people were inside the house at 4224 Brook Cross Drive when gunfire erupted about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Wake County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Phyllis Stephens said the shooting was "not a random act," but declined to comment on possible suspects or motives.
One woman was shot and killed, and a man was shot and transported to WakeMed for treatment of his injuries.

Violence can happen anywhere. 13-14 years ago a man was murdered in Preston even. The wife was a suspect but she said he surprised a robber and she was never charged IIRC. Last I had seen she was fighting the insurance co as the ywere evidently more skeptical than the cops or at least less willing to pay out. I always wondered what happened in the end.
