Hubby and I are possibly moving into a rental in Durham area around Whippoorwool Park (off Guess Road-Hwy 157). Any thoughts on the area? Is it "nice". I realize it might be on the older side, and that's OK, I just want a safe, secure place that is also around scenic areas. I'm not too familiar with Durham in general, so your help would be appreciated!

We're basically looking for a rental home of atleast 1300sq ft on atleast .25 acre for under $1200 a month. Doesn't have to be the fanciest, but don't want "run-down" either.

Thanks for your help!

~ April

I live not too far from that area. It is OK. This part of the county has the least crime, in general. A few burglaries happen, but generally not too bad. Are you to rent in a place with neighbors around? That would be safer than if you are isolated, in sight of the road.

Don't know much about northwest Durham.

I used to live in the Southpoint/ Woodcroft/ Parkwood area, and that was a decent location.

I actually decided on a wonderful (or I think atleast!) in N. Raleigh in the Greystone Village area. I love it! Thanks for the help though.

The Greystone neighborhoods are very desirable...can't go wrong there!

There are usually quite a few rentals in Six Forks North and Mine Valley. But, because there are lots of rentals in those n'hoods, try to pick one of the streets that looks to be kept up nicer than the others.
