before i read the first post i was gonna say "Avoid Mama dips- more hype than anything else" but I guess some folks like it.
you do know the difference between nc q and (soaked in vinegar) and tomato based q don't you. Allen and sons is supposed to be good vinegar soaked q if you like that.

I have to agree with Kudzu - if it's southern fare you seek, Crooks Corner is the place.
For traditional NC BBQ, the best place in the Chapel Hill area is Allen & Son on NC86 north of I-40. (Be forwarned - it's a bit of a dump, as any good BBQ place should be.) You could also try The Pig on Weaver Dairy.
There are lots of restaurants along Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. As mentioned, search the forum and you'll find many references - but if you have specific questions about any post them here.
