I'm looking to start our garden seeds and was wondering if there are any local that carry a good selection of heirloom seeds. Specifically, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots and squash. I'm hoping to find them locally instead of ordering online.

I'm a big fan of Baker's Creek Heirloom seeds. They carry, many heirloom, non-GMO modified seeds. They are based in Missouri, so I catalog it, but did notice that Homewood Nursery in Raleigh started carrying some of their seeds last year. The woman I talked to at Homewood said they were trying them out and if they did well they would expand their selection, so you may want to check with them.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds - 1400 heirloom garden seeds!

I can't think of any local garden shop that carries many heirloom seeds. I love Stone Brothers & Byrd in downtown Durham, as their staff is always very helpful, but they only carry conventional seeds (yet a good variety of them).

Thanks for the link, Sweetpea. I just ordered a bunch of seeds for our garden this year. They have a great selection!

I don't think he sells seeds, but Craig LeHoullier is The Source for heirloom tomatos.
