Okay, so I lost my cell phone. I need to get a new one and since we'll be at the end of our term in a few months (ack...yep, gotta pay without a cell phone) I want to check out other services to see if ANYONE in this area gets a darn signal.

Verizon is what we have now (and dh still has) but we get little to no signal at all here in my S/D of Tafton.

So if you live nearby or work or even drive through this area and get a decent signal, please post who your service provider is!!!!

Thanks!
Lauren

Wow Lauren I'm surprised, I figured Verizon was the way to go...at least in NJ up in the mountains it is.

lauren-I live (or will soon live) in Flowers and have US Cellular. Main reasons are for signal in Clayton and down east since I travel to my mom's alot. However, I think their "region" changes somewhere close around Clayton so if you drive to Raleigh every day it might not be such a great deal-sorry to not be of much more help! I cant stand to have a cell phone and not be able to use it at home!

Thanks ncmom, I'll check em out.

Jeannie, I guess my network isn't following me around....although without a cell phone now its bailed on me completely..lol.

I'm guessing eventually service will be better here but so far....nothing.

Oh pooh,
I was hoping for more input. I NEED A CELL PHONE. My dh missed out on a Spinal Tap reunion concert because I couldn't call him to tell him it was on the radio! lol. How's that for desperation?

Using Sprint I always got good reception in Clayton proper, even indoors.

Off any of the main highways it could get bad. It was fun having to stand outside in 18-degree December bliss because I wasn't pulling in a signal inside the house. But that's what I get for living out in the sticks.

I use nextel/sprint, and service is spotty out that way. My wife uses alltell and usually has great service around Clayton getting back toward garner. I can't say for sure about the other side of Clayton though. Hope this helps.

Hey Lauren....sorry about the PM...didn't know what that meant! My friend is gone, so I will respond to you..

My step-dad lives two miles from here and has Verizon. He LOVES it. He doesn't even use long distance from home. It is the only service that I have been told works fine in Archer Lodge.

I have Nextel - HATE it....Had Sprint PCS, but it's been a while. Hated it too!

Other than Verizon - haven't been told any that work here. Mine works fine in Clayton and surrounding areas, but of course, not in Archer Lodge.

I have US Cellular and we have driven all around and it gets really good reception. I will have to take a drive out to Wendell to see how it does over there.

I have AT&T which used to be Cingular. Have only had dropped calls on one section of 540- I shouldn't be talking anyways. The only other places were way up in Vermont and in the Adirondacks where no one was getting any signal either.
