So what did the OP decide to do?

Did you move to Durham area?

I am in your same shoes- 36 and single.... thinking of moving, but not sure where. Heard Denver is the best place to be single..

haha! I'm 31 and already feeling this way! Dating is exhausting and being single saves me from unnecessary headaches and heartaches. Reading this thread makes me feel even more content staying single. But the idea that there are few eligible single men here is surpring to me since there's such a high number of well-educated professionals in medicine, engineering, and education in this area. It seems like a lot of males would be drawn here for the job market alone... I wonder if more females fall into those career buckets these days. If so, that's very cool.

Not the OP but I remember reading this thread when I was preparing to move here last spring. I think the city is definitely what you make of it.

I was recently single when I moved here, just starting to date again. Female, Mid-30's. Most of the new friends I was making were also single, some divorced, some never been married. In the past year, several of those women, including myself, have started relationships that look good for the future. One met her BF on eHarmony, another on Match, another through a mutual friend and I met my BF at a MeetUp event.

Of course, I still have a few friends that are single...but they are generally the friends who are either very shy and don't like to venture out to meet new people, work long hours, or are very, very, very picky.

So...long story short...I think the city has lots of opportunities for those who are willing to try.
