Anyone attending the Raleigh car show this week? I did a search before I posted and found a thread from last year stating Honda and VW would not be there. I checked the car show site vendor list and it appears that is the same case this year. Did anyone hear last year why they decided not to attend? I'm still planning on going, just curious.

We went last year and it was a let down. It is just as advertised a Wake County Dealers show and not all dealerships were there. It is not the Raleigh addition of the International Auto Show which we went to at the Convention Center and that was great.

The shows split into two separate shows a few years ago. Its a fair amount of work and expense for a dealership to exhibit and some don't feel like its worthwhile especially in the current economic environment.

Agreed. I went to the car show at the convention center 2 years ago and it was really good. I went to the car show at the fairgrounds last year, thinking it was the same thing but in a different location, and it was a letdown.

I was thinking about going.. is there a second show this year? I can't find it on the convention center schedule (Raleigh Convention Center: Schedule).

I went last night and besides no VW or Honda - BMW, Mercedes and I think Acura were not there as well.. It only took me about an hour and 15 minutes to see everything and there was no waiting to sit in any cars. For $6 it was alright.

What about Ferrari, Lambourghini, Aston Martin, et al.. . . . . i.e., the luxury/exotics?

I am with you I loved the luxury cars at the convention center show two years ago. The irony is that when I went last year I was in the market to buy a car and did so the Monday after the show. I got it from a dealership that wasn't at the show. Some of the sales folks had good car show skills and some left a lot to be desired.

There were some Ferrari's, Porsche's and a Spyker but I didn't see any Lamborghini's - not sure about Aston Martin.
