I'm a big fan of Tasu in Brier Creek. I know this has been discussed before and there's been some other suggestions (try the search feature) - but I do like some Tasu!

Two questions:

1. Where are you?
2. Do you want traditional sushi, or updated sushi (favoring crunchy bits inside, cooked ingredients, sauces, asparagus, etc). They are both good, but some places are better for traditional, some better for more americanized sushi.

I like Waraji in North Raleigh and Sushi O in Glenwood South. Mura in North Hills is not bad. I haven't been to every sushi restaurant in the Triangle, but of the ones I have tried, these are some of the ones I've liked the most.

if you like traditional, no frills (non of this neo garbage)- sushi tsune on hillsborough st in raleigh is good.

it was originally owned by my hubby and his family (named daruma then) but they sold it back in 94 or 95

Hayashi in Wakefield is a hidden gem. It's on New Falls of Neuse (gotta love the lack of road-naming creativity around here) in the Food Lion shopping center, and not only is the food - and the sushi - tremendous, the decor is striking as well. I love the place. Hmmm - now I'm gonna have to.

We frequent Tasu and occasionally visit Waraji in north Raleigh.
An's in Cary is very good too.

For us, Tasu is very convenient. An's more of a special occasion.

Frank

Definitely Waraji! I live close by so it's convenient to me in N. Raleigh but honestly, fish is consistently fresh and rice is pretty good. They have a mix of traditional/classic sushi rolls and more "funky" rolls - all are quite good though!
