I have been looking in the Raleigh area for a possible relocation and not sure it is for me. The area closest to what I am looking for is Cary. I am now thinking of going to look in Charlotte Huntersville area and would like some feedback on how it compares to Cary. I'm used to living in area with more of a "new" feel rather then what I felt Raleigh is like.
I'm a recently divorced lady 38 with no kids so am looking for a safe (as can be) area as well. I am open to other areas in NC as well. I heard Asheville is nice too.
Any suggestions?
I like an area that has a new feel with malls and plazas with shops and restaurants. A lot of Raleigh had a industrial feel or too small town feel for me. I like a middle ground where it is not so crazy but also not too quiet.
Where can you find employment>\?
Why are you "moving?" If Raleigh is industrial, then Charlotte will be as well...it is the biggest city in NC and older than Cary proper. What about Greenville?

We went to Raleigh and looked around back in the fall, and honestly, industrial is not what came to my mind at all. In fact, it seems like most of the jobs there are IT and healthcare. I read somewhere that a decent percentage of Raleigh folk have a doctorate as compared with the rest of the country. I loved everything about Raleigh except that it's not a good fit job wise for my DH. He needs industrial. I'd move to Raleigh ASAP if it wasn't for that.
The main thing about finding somewhere to move is: Do you have a job lined up, and if not, are you certain you will be able to (if not self-employed or retired)? The days of picking where you want to live and then moving, "knowing" you will find a job in a short time, are over for the time being.
