Sounds like he'll be working right along the border of Chapel Hill and Durham, yes? Just west of where I-40 and the 15-501 intersect, I suspect.

If you'd like to rent fairly close to his job, then keep your search on the eastern side of Chapel Hill & western side of Durham. There are a few apartment complexes in that area that are fairly nice. I don't have any suggestions on rental agencies, I'm sorry to say. Hopefully someone else on here can help you with that.

My mom lives in that area (in fact just behind the bcbs building) there is a number of townhouses and smaller homes in that area (colony woods) and you may be able to rent something in that area.

Send me a pm and I can give you some suggestions of rental companies.

Leigh

Some landlords will work with you for a larger deposit.

We just looked at one in Raleigh which said they had no issues with Chapter 7as long as all bad items on the credit report were discharged in the bankruptcy.

Be up front about it and many apts will go with you as long as your salary meets guidelines.

There's a ton of rental properties (apartment, townhomes, and houses) within a mile of bcbs. Some older complexes right across 15-501, and a bunch of new ones further up 15-501 in Durham off Mt Moriah and University

You said "down there"... does that mean you are coming from more North of here? If so, I think you will find it doesn't get terribly cold here in comparison, and also it only snows once every 3 years.

Friends have lived in Booker Creek apartments very near to BCBS, and they seem to be in decent shape. Also Foxcroft is near there, but those might be a little older. I think Carolina Realty Chapel Hill Real Estate, Carrboro Real Estate, Orange Durham County Real Estate, Carolina Realty of Chapel Hill, Inc. is also more concerned about your income than your credit worthiness... there are some rental houses in neighborhoods behind BCBS.
