I apologize -- I never got the reply. - I think you need to do a reset to factory defaults to change it back. I have not changed it since I turned into a bridge into my current wireless router.

Success!

and

Rock solid - hardly any variation on speed and no longer starts high and then goes down. Seems way snappier!

Okay... So for everyone else who will inevitably have the same issue. What did you do to resolve?

I think bridge mode is the key. I noticed when switching it into bridge mode that there are actually FOUR modes listed:

1) Bridge mode
2) NAT mode
3) Router mode
4) NAT Router mode

mine was set up in NAT mode (?) and I switched to bridge mode, but for new installs, my guess is that for folks who do NOT have their own routers, "Router mode" would be best and most reliable. I could be wrong of course.

In any case, my setup seems MUCH better now.

You have to go to the "hidden" menu on the modem by going to this URL:

http://192.168.0.1/TlModeChange.asp

Going from NAT mode to bridge mode (using my Airport Extreme as the DHCP server/NAT) made a world of difference like the folks above (jitter and ping times dramatically reduced)

If you have your own router, then yes Bridge mode would be the choice. If you are using TWC's router, and you have more than 1 device, you will need one of the NAT settings.

My entire internet experience has changed dramatically with the modem in bridge mode. Everything snaps right up - faster than ever before by a very wide and noticeable margin. It's like how I felt going from 56K dialup to ISDN back in the mid to late 90s

Anyway, I couldn't be happier now. Downloads are incredible, uploads are amazing, and everything is "instant" fast now, good enough to keep up with my fast machine, SSD, etc.

Looks like this is a bigger problem with TWC Wideband:

fixed! Re: 60-100% Packet Loss in New York with Time Warner - Road Runner | DSLReports Forums

What's interesting is this person claims it's an issue with their Motorola modem, and I believe everyone here has the Ubee modem. So there must be some system-wide issue with TWC and NAT/router mode.

Thanks for that link! That, and the the rest of the discussion here allowed me to get the modem working with my existing network setup in no time.

Thanks to all!
