Anyone who has ever used Mexican vanilla in baking knows there is nothing better. I have run out of my supply and would like to know if anyone knows where I can find some in the Raleigh, NC area. It has to be the genuine article, no coumarin, vanillin extract, something like Molina brand or better. This doesn't appear to be carried by the typical hispanic market - maybe because it costs a little more than the alternative.
Thanks!

Penzey's carries Mexican Vanilla, and I believe there is a Penzey's now in Cameron Village.

I loooove Mexican vanilla!!! When I was in CYO, we did mission trips to Mexico and all the moms would give us money to buy it. We'd come home with LOADS of it! It is the BEST!

There is Savory Spice Shop in North Raleigh and they list mexican vanilla in their extracts list on the website. It'd be worth a call to see if the local store actually stocks it and how much it is -- but the shop is worth a visit as well. They are great in there. They are at the corner of falls of neuse and honeycutt in that new plaza whose name escapes me for the moment.

I second, or third the Penzey's recommendation. Great place if you like to cook/bake/grill.

Agree, the spice shop in Lafayette Village is worth a visit. Lots of interesting spices and ideas for cooking with them.

I'm up in Michigan and use Penzey's vanilla. Guess they've got a good name for themselves across the country.
