I was wondering if anyone has knowledge or experience with apartment communities changing their rental rates from day to day.

Last Saturday I expressed interest in a community for a 1bdrm apt that was listed as $685.00 ... and on Sunday I was faxed a "Cost Sheet" indicating Prorated Rent, Fees, Deposits -I then overnighted them the Application Fee and "Holding Fee" and was approved by 1pm on Monday....on Tuesday the website indicated this particular unit was now $665.00 -and it stayed this way until today it's listed as $650.00!...that's a yearly difference of $420!!!

I asked the leasing gal about it on Tuesday and she said that I was "locked in" at the $685.00 rate the day I sent them the application fee and holding fee. I am curious and frustrated because I haven't signed a Lease yet, which I've always considered the "binding legal document" -so is this legit???

Note: If I back out, I lose my $100 application fee's (I had a co-applicant) and the $75.00 holding fee and the next person will lock this in at $650.00...

Your thoughts????
