Yes, this thread is a year old... but all I can say is that Bella Italia on Durant must have really changed. My daughter and I ate there tonight. HORRIBLE. We should have known we were in trouble when the person at the desk asked if there were 4 for dinner... uh.... it was just the two of us. Server had zero personality... but was OK. Garlic cheese knots were either frozen or out of a bag and stale, then smothered in RAW garlic and plastic mozzarella was melted, sort of, on top. My daughter had undercooked penne with a few thin stamp sized slices of chicken, canned teeny precooked tiny shrimp, and spinach in a "pink" sauce and I had Chicken Marsala with that had an incredibly thin and small piece of what may have been chicken, overcooked broccoli, canned rubber mushrooms, tasteless sauce that was sort of marsala colored and undercooked penne. Only flavor was the SWEET parmesan cheese. (Since when it it supposed to be sweet?) You know that others must feel this way - since we were the only ones in there AND the server didn't even ask if we needed a box for our over half unfinished plates of food. For $14.99 for each entree, it wasn't worth it.

There really has to be more out there. Normally we go to La Foresta or just make Italian inspired food at home. I think we may be safe to stick with that. (We tried Paparazzi recently, and it was really pretty good... especially the appetizers - but a bit expensive.)

(And yes - I'm definitely a food critic.... but will highly praise what is good)

Milton's has always had excellent service. Surprised to see the OP's bad comment.

We frequently go to the Milton's in North Raleigh and honestly, I have never had bad service.

Food is good, hubby likes it more than I do but my favorite is Casa Carbone. I like Casa Carbone's food but I don't think THEIR service is all that wonderful!!!

Thumbs up I found a real Pizzeria in Wakefield!

Last week I stopped in a new pizza joint called Sergio's Pizza that just opened up in the shopping center in the Wakefield area (New Falls of Neuse / Wakefield Pines Drive next to the food lion). It reminded me of a typical pizzeria back in NJ. Order/pay at the counter - booth and table seating and self serve soda fountain. The slices I had were pretty darn good. Regualr cheese slice is $2.25. My wife had a veggie slice which she really enjoyed. I will definitely be a regular here when I need to get my pizza fix. I like the idea of just eating a slice or two and not being tempted by having a whole pie in the house!

Oh yeah there is also this very cool Tex/Mex place that just opened up next to Sergio's called Tejano's Grill. They are heavy on the Tex side (the owner even wears a cowboy hat). I had some great chicken tacos there the other day and some awesome Texas Fries (looked like homemade potato chips). They also do burgers, chili, and ribs. Definitely worth checking out too. Nice to have some new dinner options before catching a movie up at Wakefield Cinemas just up the road.

A few quick pics from my visit to Sergio's

I've always enjoyed the calzones at Schiano's though these days I'm rarely on that side of town to get one.

Hey NRG, Thanks!! I've been wondering about Sergios and when they were to be open. I'm going to go there now for a few slices.

I've heard a few "Bella Italia" comments....... BTW -- Bella @ Durant isnt owned by the same Bella @ Main Street WF. They are related, but different owners. The Bella on Main Street by Sonic/DMV in WF is excellent! I cant comment on Durants food, never been to it.

Whenever I order an extra sausage large, they say "Hi Ben"...... BUT -- Unlike Miltons, they are not exactly the same type of restaurant. Yea, they sell pizza, but it isnt a sit down and watch a game with a beer place.

Ok off to Sergios to give that one a shot!

Casalinga @ Mini City, still has some of the best Italian in the city. A Diamond in the Rough! Right up there with Casa Carbone. And their lunch specials!! I think I may leave work now for a quick bite.

I've heard good things about Casalinga. I need to check that place out.

Ben,

Hope you like Sergio's. I thought it was pretty good.

Eeek! Went to Sergios, they had 10 pizzas that looked disgustingly old sitting out. Ordered two sausage slices, they picked two nice old slices from the crap sitting there and added sausage and into the oven.

It was 12:45, lunch time!

The pizza was flimsy on the non-crust side and all the stuff ran off it. Sauce is tangy for the half of it that had sauce.

Kinda gross, I might wait another month before I try it again. If it fails the second time, thats it!

Tips if Sergio is reading: Serve fresh pizzas. Not yesterdays or whenever they were cooked. Yuck!

Here's the food:

My mom likes Casalinga. I don't like their sauce.
