This is just for fun and I am bored so I thought I'd share some info to show where housing prices start in different areas. I guess the purpose of this to show newcomers and potential relocatees that there is indeed an abundance of affordable housing options in the triangle if you are looking for them. I've only included single family 3+ bedrooms homes under 200K. It's very broad and especially in the bigger cities of Raleigh and Durham it really doesn't say much. Clearly, homes that are less than 30K are in not so desirable areas! Alternatively, towns with very few homes may just be very small in size a la Morrisville. Enjoy!

First of all, what's up with Zebulon? I don't know much about the Triangle east of Raleigh, but this seems unreal to me. 3 Bed, 3 Bath, 1,956 Sq. Ft., 1 Acres for $44,500?

In our area, I'm rather surprised by Morrisville. That "cheapest" house listed looks like a pretty good deal.

I'm not 100% sure but if I remember what I saw correctly, most of the lower ones were actually just older small ranches. None of these are mobile homes (the cheapest ones, I'm not sure about the rest) and one looked like it may have been a modular, I think it was the the Zebulon one but it just looked like an old ranch to me.

I like to do this with the Boston area with my friends who keep telling me I should stay in the area. I show what I can buy for $150k in the triangle area and then I show what can be bought for $150k in the Boston area (generally nothing, occasionally an outdated condo in a really sketchy neighborhood, once a 300 sq ft. [yes 300!] freestanding "house" came up) Usually just parking spots come up if I confine it to Boston proper and 100k.
