My husband and I are currently house hunting and we're interested in viewing houses that are listed on the MLS as well as For Sale By Owners; however, we can't seem to find many FSBOs. Are there really not many around? Where would I find listings or them?

You could try FSBO, Real Estate For Sale by Owner, Homes, Houses, Property for sale by owner

I'm not sure that many people go that route tho. If they're doing FSBO they're probably relying on word of mouth of neighbors and ads in the News & Observer classifieds & just general traffic through the neighborhood.

Good luck.

Thanks,

I hadn't seen that website, but I have been checking the N&O with no luck. It does seem that not many people go that route. If anyone knows of any....please PM me. I'm looking in the Holly Springs area, but will consider Fuquay-Varina or Apex.

I would also try on craigslist, many realtors advertise there, but that should be spelled out in the advertising.

I would say simply driving through neighborhoods you like is also a way to see if any are up. Definitely look at craigslist though.

I'm trying the same route as you in the Sampson County area. In addition to the various message boards, you can try these more formalized web-sites...

For Sale By Owner, homes for sale, houses, real estate, for sale
FSBO, Real Estate For Sale by Owner, Homes, Houses, Property for sale by owner
For Sale By Owner Homes - Sell Real Estate and Find Homes For Sale

There's tons more if you just google "sale owner house NC"

Good luck!

If you have an idea about what areas or neighborhoods interest you then the absolute best way to find FSBOs are to take a drive. A couple of popular neighborhoods I frequently shop are hardly ever marketed on the web and so far they haven't needed it! I think many people rely on general traffic. Last, the FSBO sites I've come across here seem to be a joke. Stale and not user-friendly (My search criteria says Raleigh, but they'll retur results in places like Willow Springs!).

We bought a FSBO house. I found it while driving through the neighborhood, but the house was also listed on Craigslist and other FSBO websites like those listed in previous posts.

You could check my house out ... it is on the MLS do you mind me asking what your price range is and why you are looking for FSBO's? We first tried to list w/ a flat fee (sort of FSBO) and it just lacked the advertising. Now we are listed w/ a REmax office out of Raleigh. If you are interested I can provide the listing number ... I just don't know if I should disclose my address on the www.
