My vote is for Prime Only. I much prefer it to Angus Barn and it is lovely inside. The teaks were just beautiful. Definitely recommend it.

We had a great experience at Angus Barn shortly after we moved to Raleigh last year. I ended up slipping and nearly busting my butt in the restaurant (how embarassing, wearing a skirt!) and the customer service was great, they really treated us well. Even called the next day to see if I was feeling alright. The food was great and the wine selection as well.
I have also been to Ruth's Chris in Cary, and you can't go wrong with them, even though it is a chain. Their service is great and the food was good.
We have also heard that Prime Only is really good, but have yet to try it.

Recently went to Jimmy V's steakhouse in Cary, and it was extremely good.
It was around 140 bucks for 2 people for a 12 oz filet mignon, 12 oz lobster tail, salads, wine, beer etc.
So it was pretty expensive but it was delicious.

If you're willing to travel
We discovered the Middleburg Steakhouse from the UNCTV program "NC Weekend." It's about a 40 minute drive north of Raleigh on US1 (or I-85) in Vance County. Their steaks are simply prepared with a choice of potato and salad bar - both very good - at an affordable price. The atmosphere is rustic and the crowd is local. We've been 1/2 a dozen times and had very good experiences (although I'm not 100% there's a non-smoking section).

And b/c I'm into history - here's info on its beginnings as a CWA project.

They have EXCELLENT steaks. It is costly (comparable to Angus Barn), and it's more upscale. The place is never crowded (when we've been) and the steak there is better then what you get at the angus barn IMO.
It's off of I-540 at exit 7 (leesville Rd.)...in the Leesville Shopping Center.

We have been wanting to go there for a long time. I've heard good things about it, and that its not AS expensive as the Angus Barn. Maybe someday I'll get to experience both and then I can write my opinon on them!

I say Angus Barn.......and make sure to check out the wine cellar and the Wild Turkey Lounge. If you are a true fan of steaks get the Rib Eye Medium Oscar Style or if you have the money the Chateaubriand Oscar (crab meat, asparagus and hollandaise) both are good enough to make you wanna slap your mama!

I've tried and enjoyed Prime Only. I've never been to Angus Barn, believe it or not, and I've been here almost 12 years! It's on my things to do list, but I have friends who swear the restaurant is overrated, so I keep putting it off.

Overpriced is more like it but honestly anything other than the chateau, Filet or Rib Eye will be pretty much the same as any other steakhouse based on tenderness and ability to absorb flavor. The less tender meats are more naturally flavorful but my take is the filet or chateau can absorb the flavors while being cooked better.

My favorite:
Sullivan's Steakhouse
Sullivans Restaurant
Great Atmosphere, Great Food. Pricey, but well worth it!
